So, what are your favorite gluten free restaurants?
Let me rephrase that - what are your favorite restaurants that have a menu focused on catering to gluten intolerant customers?
Whereas the number of restaurants offering us the choices we need to be able to enjoy eating out just like anyone else, the restaurants that cater specifically to gluten intolerant individuals are few and far between.
Even here in Austin, the bastion of health food and hippie living frontier, the only exclusive gfree restaurant in town just recently closed.
But that is no reason to feel down or discouraged, or feel like you can never enjoy eating out with your pals.
In this article I'm going to give you a quick and easy guide as to how to go about eating out without upsetting your otherwise delicate tummy or mood.
But before I do that, I want to tell you the other reason I created this page. And then I want to ask a favor of you.
I created this page as a call to service to all my gluten free friends and readers, both the new and the seasoned in the lifestyle.
It would be incredibly daunting in terms of time and money for one person to gather up to date info on all the restaurants around the world that cater to gluten free folks like you and I.
Actually, it'd be close to impossible for a single individual like me without a huge funding machine behind me. Otherwise I'd end up providing a shoddy list like the few available out there.
What I am asking of you is to help me help your local gluten sensitives by submitting a review of one or two local gluten free restaurants in your area. Certainly more if you can.
Obviously that includes restaurants that at least acknowledge the existence of gluten intolerance diets even if they do have specific menu items catering to us.
This website is obviously focused on vegetarian food, but I'm well aware that the majority of gluten intolerant individuals are not necessarily vegetarian - and I want to help everyone find a great local place where they can feel confident when thinking of eating out.
So, please use the form below to tell us something about any gfree restaurants you know of, but I would highly prefer the ones you've actually tried.
That way we can maintain the integrity of this information. Please write a short - or long if you like - review now :)
As well, if you're a restaurant manager or owner and want to tell us about your gluten free restaurant options, we'd be delighted to hear from you.
Thank you in advance for participating in this online community project :)
Do you have a great experience to share? Or just a meh experience? Either way, tell us about it....
